My Monday Off. No comments yet

Time to play.  Some days just seem designed for fiddling with things, don’t they?  Usually they are the kind o days that I end up with scissors, paper offcuts and glue all over the place.

Over the weekend I saw How To Make  Pop up Photo over at Wikihow.  All you need are scissor, a gluestick and lots of copies of the one photo.  Here is a picture of the example used on Wikihow.

Clever, isn’t it?

What about making some really unique Christmas cards this year, using family photos?  These would become keepsakes for certain.  Use your imagination!  Your choice of background image will set the scene for a pop up story.

Well, I have scissors in hand and a sacrificial photo ready to cut.  I hope I can make one as good looking as the example here!

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything was a struggle?  This week has been like that.  There have been a lot of interruptions and nothing has gone smoothly.

I saw this cartoon and it showed just what my week has been like.  Thankfully, we have survived and today is Friday.  Yay for the weekend!

Wall Decals No comments yet

Wall Decals are a wonderfully easy way to redecorate a room.  As your child grows up you don’t have to pull everything apart to suit their new tastes, just change the decals.

There are so many to choose from these days and Wall Decals has a great collection of them including some for Christmas.  How easy is it to add some seasonal decor to your room without having to drop tinsel all over the carpet or spray fake snow on your windows?  Just add some magic with decals that look like snowflakes!

Tayana - for busy women No comments yet

Tayana is a lifestyle resource site for busy women.  It is run by Tayana Nickson who describes the site as

“For busy, stylish, classy and confident women who want the good things in life.”

Tayana is like a magazine site.  It has articles written by experts in Image, Fitness and Health, Organisation and even a naturopath.

It also has an online store which carries a great array of gifts for all the family.    My favourite product are the ladies Faux Fur Slippers by Britt.  Aren’t they lovely?  These would be perfect for any aspiring movie star or Ms Piggy out there.  They are seriously feminine and deliciously decadent looking.

The great thing about Tayana is that it has all these wonderful products to make you feel feminine and special but it also has all the practical lifestyle information that you need so you can cope.  It is the complete package.

My Monday Off No comments yet

Well I know what I am doing today.  I am going to read the first issue of Cherry Magazine which is put out by Beauty Banquet.  It is a magazine that is full of good reading and I know that it has some great offers and competitions in it, too.

I know for a fact that it has a great offer for all Beauty Banquet members.  They have the opportunity to join a certain new online shopping club for FREE!

The club is a group of online merchants that have banded together to offer extra bonuses to club members.  The bonuses include free shipping or discounts on purchases or even free gifts.   You have to be a member of Beauty Banquet to access the free offer so if you are interested go and join now.  Just add your details and subscribe to the newsletter and you are in!

I have a friend who is getting married next year so tonight we are going to spend a little time together sorting out the things she has to do.  Isn’t it funny that we think of weddings as romantic and beautiful when in fact they are almost like a military campaign?  The precision of dates and the logiistics of wedding party/guest arrangements is incredible.  Get them wrong and the whole day is ruined.  I often wonder how any bride can be beautiful on the day after living with the organisational details for months beforehand.

I have a copy of a great little guide to wedding preparation that we will work through.  It is an ebook that is downloadable from the 2 Paupers called the 2 Paupers Guide to a Stress Free Wedding.   This little book is well worth the $3.99AUD.  It lays out a plan of attack that helps you to remember all those little details that really make the day.

I think there will be a lot of talk tonight but I think there will be a lot of laughter as well.

Posing for Photos No comments yet

I HATE having my photo taken.  Somehow I always manage to look like a swollen elephant with a goofy face.  It just isn’t fair.

This clip from Youtube features a skinny model (grr) giving some secrets on posing - how to look slimmer and how to be natural.  I picked up a couple of tips from her and I hope it helps you too.

Dream Candles - safe soy candles 2 comments

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”      - Buddha

I would like to introduce you to Dream Candles, an Australian website which specialises in hand poured, eco-friendly soy wax candles.  The site is owned by Michelle Rodgers who wants to look after the environment by replacing paraffin candles with environmentally friendly soy candles.

Did you know that paraffin candles are toxic?  Did you know that every paraffin candle you burn is releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere?   Dream Candles are made with envirosoy, which is 100% natural, biodegradable and completely non-toxic.  Even the wicks used are 100% cotton and lead free.

After reading that you would have to wonder why we would fill the air with chemicals when we could have the healthy alternative?

My current favourite from the Dream Candles range is the Mosaic candle.  It comes in a stunning glass mosaic container which you can then reuse once the candle is gone.  The colours are lovely and give your room a lovely atmosphere.

Dream Candles have a range of tealights, soy melts, candles and candle holders that you must see.  Treat yourself to some serenity at home with the gentle glow of a candle.

Belluca - Australian style. No comments yet

Belluca is an online store run by Veronica Lucas and has just celebrated its first birthday.  Belluca specialises in stocking Australian made products for bubs, kids and mums.  It specifically supports small Australian businesses.

For mums there is a great range.  You can choose from organisers, journals, boots, bags, body wraps or even jewellery.  For children there are ban bags, cooking kits, DVD’s and slippers.  Have a look at the gorgeous Bandicoats, which are like traditional Aussie oilskin coats for children up to size 12.

I  think my favourite part, though, is the selection of linen and decor items for kids rooms.   Isn’t that piece of art cute?  There is a whole range of artwork from Cool Kids Canvas.  There is also a childs hammock, some wall decals. child proof storage items and fun bed linen too.

Visit Belluca to see what other goodies Veronica has in stock.
