Model Pets
As you all probably know by now, I am a sucker for teddies and animals. I have a seriously spoilt dog and a pampered cat who dominate the household. I know I am not alone in living like this. As I flit around the blog world I see many blogs that include images of or posts about their pets.

Next time you have to buy a pet lover a gift you might like to consider this.
I found this brilliant site quite by accident and I love it. It is called Kays K9’s and she handmakes little models of dogs using needle felting. They are really life like and she captures the characteristics of each breed really well.
Wouldn’t a model of your friends pet be the perfect gift for them? You can have a model
of the whole dog or just the face. You can have standing models or even buy a magnet with a photo of that same breed. The prices are not cheap but for the amount of delicate and fiddly work involved, they are quite fair.
My mother recently lost her beloved Grover. He was a the biggest labrador that I have ever seen and probably the most gentle. We tend to gloss over the loss of other people’s pets as though the grief is not as deep as for the loss of a person, but sometimes the pet is their closest companion. A model of the pet would be a beautiful way to remember him.
Of course, most pet lovers really wouldn’t need an excuse to buy something as clever as this. Go and visit Kays K9s and her Etsy shop even if it is just for the sheer pleasure of looking.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that your mother lost Grover. It leaves such a big gap in one’s life… I’m down to one dog now myself, the Greyhound, having lost my dear grumpy old Shiba Inu just a bit before Christmas: it’s been 4 months now and I’m still missing him every day. Like you I was thinking, when I found Kay’s site (and that was coincidence, honestly - somehow I missed this post of yours until now!!
- what a comforting way to memorialize a faithful companion animal. Or for someone who has to give up a pet when the time comes to move to a nursing home…
