I saw on the Tonic Gifts blog that Michelle has introduced the Salt City line of candles into her store.
These candles are excellent. They are jar candles with a really long burning life and they smell divine. I don’t know that I can pin down a favourite (the cappuccino brulee is tempting) but the florals would have to be towards the top of the list. Gardenia is actually a mix of gardenia, vanilla and musk so you can imagine what that would smell like in the evening air.
The Salt City range comes in many different sizes and scents so there will be one for you.

What shall I do today? Hm. Perhaps a nice hand pamper to prepare my hands for the cold weather. A nice coat of nail polish would add a hint of colour. Yes, time for a hand pamper.
Adore Beauty have a great little set by Bloom called Hand Pamper Pack. It contains sachets of Exfoliating Hand Wash, Nail and Cuticle Treatment and Care and Repair Hand Cream.
They also have nail polish by OPI in a shade called Yucatan if U Want which is calling loudly to me. Nice, isn’t it?
I guess that the only thing I need to do now is to remember my nail polishing technique. If you are having difficulty, too, then here is a video clip to help you refresh your memory.
Easter has passed at last in a haze of chocolate oblivion. Absolutely perfect. Then, the scales start lurking in my bathroom. Hm. Telling me something?
I saw this CD advertised and it appealed to me. Perhaps it is time to let my monster go, but I think I have petted him so much that it might be a hard task!
Still, today is only Friday. Good resolutions start on Monday’s, don’t they? Just as well for me.
They say that the best way to control your diet is to keep a food journal, recording all that you eat. Rather than leave it around for prying eyes, how about recording it on this? It is called the Thoughtsafe Journal from Cool Things. Isn’t it cute? Take your thoughts ( and food secrets) with you wherever you go.
With the help of these two goodies I might have some hope of losing my ‘Easter bonus’!

I love sunstone and it is not that commonly seen, lately. It is an unusual stone, sparkling as though it has little chips of the sun inside it. I was lucky enough to be able to find a stunning sunstone pendant for Beauty Banquet and it is divine.
This pendant has been handmade in India. It is set in sterling silver. When I look at this stone I feel ‘cheered up’ and energised. While reading at Modern Goddess Online I found a great summary of the properties of this gemstone:
”Sunstone is extremely useful for removing “hooks” from other people - these can be at the mental or emotional level. It can also help lift your spirit, cut the ties, help you say no and remove co-dependency.
It facilitates self-empowerment, independence, and vitality. If procrastination is holding you back, Sunstone will overcome it.“ It also heightens your intuition.
No wonder I feel happier when I see it. Nicole says that the stone will work best when worn in on the body and in the sun.

Today is a public holiday so many of us will have the kids home with us. You are not likely to have a ‘restful’ day off today, so why not have a fun one?
There are lots of things that you and your kids can do together that are really involving and enjoyable. Alana Designs, a site run by an 11 year old girl, has some suggestions for things to do, especially if you children are girls.
One of my favourites is Funky Fitout. It is a book full of decorating ideas for your childs room. It is aimed at pre to early teens. A lick of paint can make such a difference. If this is a bit much for your Monday off then why not try Glass Painting. It also comes in a kit with tubes of paint and a book of ideas. Both of these items are only $15.
Why not have a look at the other ideas and games that Alana has on offer?
Today is Good Friday and people across the world are eating fish instead of meat whether or not they are Christian. I thought that I would share with you a recipe that has become popular in our house. It is very easy to cook and even the kids like it.
Fruity Fish Burgers.
Ingredients:
4 white fish fillets
4 pieces fruit (we use peaches or mango) canned is fine.
a little oil for the grill
1/3 cup teriyaki sauce
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp garlic
4 bread rolls buttered and filled with lots of fresh lettuce and finely chopped spring onions .
Method:
Mix the teryaki sauce, garlic and ginger together. Place the fish and your fruit pieces on the BBQ ( or in the frypan) and cook almost through. Pour your sauce over the fish and fruit and heat it until the fish is cooked. Keep an eye on the sauce because it will burn if you leave it too long. Place a piece of fruit and a piece of fish on each prepared roll and make sure it has been coated with the sauce. Enjoy.

We are suffering a heat wave, here in Victoria, and it make me feel so dull and lethargic. My brain slows down and I spend more time yawning than achieving anything. I need to snap out of it.
I remember last summer, my children had a karate tournament. It was a 38C day and inside the hall it was 40C. Half of Victoria was on fire and we were covered in a pall of smoke. Because the hall was so hot we had to have the doors open and the haze oozed into the room with us. The kids had to fight in this!
Snap Out Of It Spritz from Real Mums
saved the day. We were all using it! Apart from the instant cooling it gave us, the essential oils really revived us all. The kids kept coming back between rounds for a quick spray. The peppermint oil gives the spritz a bit of kick, and the grapefruit and lavender are revitalising and smell divine.
For those of you suffering a heat wave, or just needing a bit of a kick start, I highly recommend Snap Out Of It from Real Mums. If the kids keep asking for it then it must be good!
