I’m a Rockin’ Girl Blogger 1 comment

Thank you to Kitty from Kitty Art for awarding me the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award. Kitty has a great blog of her own where she shows you the progress of her amazing paintings. She is the winner of this award too, and very deservedly.
I would like to pass this award onto another deserving blogger or two.

Pinkapple from Apple Tart deserves an award. This blog is new but is unlike any other. Great work Chris.

Kathie Holmes is the brains behind Buzz Bags (and a multitude of other sites). This award is not so much for actual blogging because the site is a blog community. It is for her thought, support and encouragement of WAHM’s through this blog.
There are many other Rockin Girl Bloggers out there who have yet to win the award. Keep up the excellent work. You should be proud of yourselves.

Blogtips for July 3 comments

This has been a busy month but it has been fun. I thought I would end on a high note by tipping some blogs that are well worth reading.

There is a new site called Mumspace.net which is a blog space for mums. It is full of very diverse blogs and some wonderful reading. Why not have a look around?

Have a look at MissieK by Melissa who is the founder of Business Mums. It is a warm blog full of fun and interesting tips on managing work, life and family.

Try Moondust for some fun. I love this blog. It is easy to read and it is gentle on the brain. Have a look at this post which will make you think!

Enjoy your reading!

It was a dark and stormy night………. 5 comments

(from an email sent to me by Wayne Stephen….)

They were together in the House. Just the two of them.

It was a cold, dark, stormy night. The storm had come quickly and each time the thunder boomed he watched her jump. She looked across the room and admired his strong appearance…and wished that he would take her in his arms, comfort her and protect her from the storm.

Suddenly, the power went out… She screamed… He raced to the sofa where she was cowering. He didn’t hesitate to pull her into his arms. He knew this was a forbidden union and expected her to pull back He was surprised when she didn’t resist but instead clung to him.

The storm raged on… They knew it was wrong… Their families would never understand.
So consumed were they in their fear that they heard no opening of doors… just the faint click of a camera……

I have been tagged again! 3 comments

The lovely Nicole at The Modern Goddess Online has tagged me to join in this game.

First of all I need to tell you the rule of this tag.

a) Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves.
b) The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed.
c) At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
So… here are my 8 things:

1. I love Thai food, and most Asian cuisines (or at least the Australianised versions we have here)

2. I love to network. I am passionate about connecting people for the benefit of all.

3. I hate the city and rarely go there unless I have to. Leave me in the quiet of the country.

4. I am a conplete sucker for a sob story!

5. The Last Post always makes me cry. Every Anzac Day morning I could see and hear the ceremony from my balcony and there I would stand sooking and sniffing into a tissue.

6. I would love to have my own art gallery and exhibit new artists only.

7. As a teenager I was a roadie for my brothers band. What was I thinking? All work and no glory! haha.

8. Blogging is my new passion. I have met some wonderful people while blogging, and discovered some excellent writers. I will be here for a long time to come.

Now I am supposed to tag 8 people, but many of the people I know have already been tagged either by me at The Tall Poppy or by others. Instead, consider yourself tagged and let me know when and where you post!

Welcome to Friday Funny. This is number 6 and looking back, I realise that they are all animal funnies. While this wasn’t intentional I think it shows where my interest lies!

Thank you to Michelle and Jenny for their entries last week. The expression on the poor cat was priceless.

Now have a go at this one!

Can you think of the perfect caption for this image? You have one week to submit them and you can submit as many as you like. All you have to do is to post your caption as a comment on this post. While there is not a prize for your responses you do win a link back to your site!
Good luck.

Long Live Chocolate 4 comments

Recently I read a post at Rainbow Designs telling me that chocolate is the number one foodstuff flavour in the world, beating vanilla and banana by 3-to-1.

I love my chocolate and some days nothing else will do but pure, dairy milk bliss. While a little bit of chocolate is good for the soul, lots of it is not good for the body.

I have found some wonderful, life-saving alternatives to that block of chocolate and they really take the edge off a craving. There are some really good low-fat chocolate mousses in the dairy section of the supermarket that put the rich decadent feeling in your mouth that chocolate does. the freezer section has a selection of low fat chocolate ice creams and gelati. What bliss for summer!

Here, we are in cold, cold winter. My current life savers are hot chocolate drinks (Cadbury’s is a favourite) and those wonderful low fat puddings that you can cook in the microwave. Rich, hot and gooey, these are brilliant to nourish you emotionally and gastronomically!

Beat the winter blues 8 comments

Here in the southern part of Australia we are into winter and it has been quite suddenly cold. There was no gentle lead in with temperatures dropping slowly down. No, we were plunged into winter without warning.

People have been asking me for some essential oil blends that they can use in the bath to fend off the winter blues so I thought that I would list some here too. I hope that they give you a lift whether you are in winter or not.

Beat Winter Bath Blend Recipes
Just drop the oils into ¼ cup of milk and add to the bath.

Banish the Blues

4 drops Bergamot
4 drops Orange
2 drops Ylang-ylang

Joy Blend

4 drops Orange
3 Frankincense
2 Ylang Ylang

Getaway

3 drops Roman Chamomile
2 drop Geranium
3 drops Lavender

I love trivia.. 1 comment

I do love those useless bits of information that you come across, don’t you? This morning I was reading She-essence blog and found that:

“if you attempted to count the stars in a galaxy at the rate of one every second, it would take around 3000 years to count them all!!”

Add that one to your collection of wierd facts!
